Types of Visas
Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers five types of visas, each for a different purpose from visitor visas, transit visas, work and student visas. Learn more about each type of visa below.
1. Visit Visa
Jordan visit visa is for foreigners who plan to stay in Jordan for up to three months. You must obtain this visa before your trip, as it requires prior permission.
2. Transit Visa
The Jordan transit visa is for people passing through Jordan on their way to another destination. This visa allows those in transit to spend 24 hours or less in the country.
3. Exit/Entry Visa
Jordan exit/entry visa is for foreigners already in Jordan who need the approval to leave and re-enter the country.
4. Work Visa
The Jordan work visa is for foreigners who are planning to work in Jordan. Please note that you must obtain a working visa before starting to work in Jordan.
5. Study Visa
Jordan study visa is for international students who need prior approval to enter Jordan. The validity of this visa depends on the duration of the study course. You must obtain a study visa before traveling to Jordan.

Most countries require a visa to enter Jordan. Citizens of some countries can acquire the visa upon arrival in Jordan, while others need to apply for it at an embassy of Jordan before they travel.

Citizens of over 153 countries can apply for a Jordan visa on arrival, including Qatar, Iceland, Australia, Jamaica, United States, Chile, Venezuela, and more. You can apply for a Jordan visa on arrival at Aqaba Airport, Queen Alia International Airport, and most border crossings, excluding King Hussein/Allenby Bridge.

How To Apply For Visa-On-Arrival?
- Approach visa-on-arrival counters at the airport or entry port.
- Two immigration officers will be present: one will ask trip-related questions, and the other will verify documents and stamp your visa.

Who Needs To Apply Before Arrival?
Citizens of over 70 countries, including India, Iran, Colombia, Egypt, and Cuba, need to apply for Jordan visa at the embassy before arriving in Jordan.
If you qualify for a visa-on-arrival but plan to stay in Jordan for more than a month or make multiple trips, we recommend that you apply for an embassy visa. An embassy visa permits multiple entries if you specifically apply for a multiple-entry visa, unlike a visa-on-arrival, which allows only one entry.
How To Apply For a Jordan Visa at an Embassy?
1. Check Eligibility: Check if your country is not eligible for a Jordan visa on arrival.
2. Transit Visa: Find the nearest Jordan embassy and call or email to inquire about visa application requirements.
3. Collect Documents: Collect the required documents based on the embassy’s instructions and submit them either in person or by mail. In addition to your passport, return tickets, and other necessary documents, the embassy may also request a business letter if you are traveling for business purposes.
4. Visa Processing: Wait for the processing of your visa to be completed, and then go to pick it up. If you submitted your application by mail, they will mail it back to you.
